Robbers Raid Bank At Egume, Kill Policeman

Armed robbers, yesterday, raided a bank (names withheld) at Egume Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing one of the policemen on duty.
The bandits, who also attacked the police station in the community, were said to have carted away undisclosed amount of money from the bank.

An eyewitness said the robbers first attacked the police station and carted away some arms with which they attacked the bank.

The eyewitness disclosed that the robbers, numbering about nine, shot sporadically into the air to scare away people, until they gained access into the bank where they shot the police attaché.



Vanguard gathered that the police officer was recently posted to the bank.

The source said the armed robbers operated for about an hour and had left before a team of policemen arrived.

When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Kogi State Police Command, Mr. Elvis Aguibo, who confirmed the incident, said the headquarters had been notified and that policemen were on their way to Egume
