Kogi Govt Okays Last Saturday of the Month for Sanitation

BY ABU IDRISU

The Kogi State governor, Captain  Idris Wada, has approved last Saturday of every month as  sanitation day.

The state Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, through his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Abu,  stated that the monthly sanitation day exercise is expected to begin on Saturday,  October  25.

Abu  explained that the exercise  became necessary  in order to involve all stakeholders across the state in  the cleaning of their environment.

According to him, “towards ensuring the effectiveness of the environmental sanitation day exercise, there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 7:00am to 10:.00am.

“Security agents have been instructed to arrest those who contravene the sanitation exercise rules.

Offenders  will be arraigned before specially constituted mobile courts that will sit on every sanitation day,” he said.

He  advised the citizens of the state  to take the exercise as their civic responsibility in   keeping  their environment and Kogi State  as a whole clean.
