Kogi Govt Okays Last Saturday of the Month for Sanitation

The Kogi State governor, Captain Idris Wada, has approved last Saturday of every month as sanitation day.
The state Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, through his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Abu, stated that the monthly sanitation day exercise is expected to begin on Saturday, October 25.
Abu explained that the exercise became necessary in order to involve all stakeholders across the state in the cleaning of their environment.
According to him, “towards ensuring the effectiveness of the environmental sanitation day exercise, there will be restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 7:00am to 10:.00am.
“Security agents have been instructed to arrest those who contravene the sanitation exercise rules.
Offenders will be arraigned before specially constituted mobile courts that will sit on every sanitation day,” he said.
He advised the citizens of the state to take the exercise as their civic responsibility in keeping their environment and Kogi State as a whole clean.
