Benue PDP Endorses Suswam to Take over Gemade’s Seat

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue State yesterday endorsed Governor Gabriel Suswam as its choice for the Benue North-east senatorial seat.

With the move, the party has given the governor clearance to replace the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Barnabas Gemade, who is currently occupying the position.

The party made the declaration at a reception in honour of the governor held yesterday in Lessel, headquarters of the local government.

Prominent members of the party in Ushongo, including a former Attorney- General of the Federation (AGF) former Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa ( SAN), Director-General, National Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii, Managing Director, NEXIM Bank, Mr. Robert Orya, among other stalwarts of the PDP in the Benue north senatorial district, unanimously endorsed Suswam as the party’s sole aspirant for the senatorial seat.

Speaking at the occasion, the former AGF who spoke on behalf of top stakeholders from the area, noted that Suswam has performed well to deserve to be at the upper chamber of the National Assembly to legislate for the well being of the constituency.

Responding  the governor appreciated the people for the confidence reposed in endorsing him, promising that if elected, he would attract developmental projects to the area.

The governor who also received thousands of All Progressives Congress, (APC)  members who defected to the PDP, promised them of equal treatment while urging them to work hard for the success of the party in next year’s general election.
