Nigeria Will Rank Among World's Best in Soccer - NFA Chair

BY ABU IDRISU

Abuja — Amaju Pinnick, the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) has said that Nigeria would soon be ranked among the best football countries of the world.

Pinnick said this might be achieved in the next four years of his tenure as NFA chairman.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that his aim was to scientifically develop football in the country in line with modern trend.

"We have been in-scripted by God to come and redefine football in Nigeria; we want to apply science in the running of football in line with modern trend.

"We want to get people to our stadium; we want to create a comprehensive new development programme.

"We want to build Nigerian football to have a more sustainable football culture where Nigeria will always aim in pole positions in every tournament.

"Victory is not only defined by winning trophies; victory is defined by having a strong viral sustainable culture of football where Nigeria will now be ranked the same with England," Pinnick said.

He noted that Nigerian football had reached a level where it should always play in the finals of every international competition.

This, he said, would enable it compete favourably with great and proud football nations.

Pinnick, who was elected as chairman of the NFA at an extra-ordinary congress on Sept. 30, had visited the Senate President David Mark to solicit his support for the new board.

He had also visited President Jonathan on Thursday at the Aso Rock Villa, to thank him and also plead for his continued support for the NFA.
