PSC Promotes 8 Police Officers To DIGs
The Police Service Commission, PSC, yesterday announced the promotion of eight senior police officers to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG. While six of the officers were promoted from the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, two others were promoted from Commissioner of Police.
Assistant director press and public relations, Mr Ferdinand Ekpe, made this known in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in which he said the promotions followed the decisions of the commission’s 6th plenary.
The officers promoted from AIG include Dan’Azumi Job Doma, Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe, David O. Omojola, Solomon E. Arase, Christopher K. Katso and Salihu Argungu Hashidu while Hilary Opara and Sotonye L. Wakama were promoted from commissioner of police.
Ekpe, who disclosed that the promotions took immediate effect, said the commission also reaffirmed its earlier decision that promotions from the ranks of ACPs to AIGs would only be done after its interviews with the affected officers.
He said the commission reviewed the time limit within which aggrieved police officers can lodge complaints against punishment meted to them to 30 days from the receipt of the decision and also availed aggrieved officers the opportunity to appeal directly to the Commission where an action on its decision is not implemented by the Police authorities as directed by it.
Chairman of the Commission, Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, enjoined them to see their elevation as opportunity to serve the nation.
