AYC Qualifier: Manu Optimistic Of Victory

The coach of the Nigerian U-20 side the Flying Eagles, Coach Manu Garba has assured Nigerians of victory when his side clashes with the Lesotho U-20 side in the last round of qualifying matches for the Africa Youth Championship (AYC) in Senegal next year.
Manu who gave the assurance shortly after his side ended an evening training session at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, venue the match is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 16th.
The coach said that although five of his key players will not be available for the match, he expressed confidence that the available players in the camp will produce the desired result.
Manu who said his team was a high scoring side that did not lose a match during their under-17 campaign and even at this stage from the friendly matches played so far, the team has recorded plenty of goals in each of the friendly matches.
He promised to finish up the match at home by winning convincingly and make the return leg a mere formality.
The coach who counted on the support and prayers of Nigeria’s soccer fans as his team promised to work hard to ensure victory said that the Kaduna fans are wonderful people who are very accommodating and lovers of the Nigerian team and that the Ahmadu Bello Stadium is one of the best pitches in the country said that all these were what his team needed for a successful outing.
One of the key players of the team, Taiwo Awoniyi who turned 17 On August 12 said the team is ready to give Nigerians results, he said that though some of the key players who are absent will be missed, but that does not call for alarm as the available players are also equal to the task. Awoniyi expressed satisfaction with the weather in Kaduna and also praised the pitch, which he said only required trimming to make a good match.
Winner of the two-legged encounter will qualify for the AYC next year in Senegal.
It could be recalled that the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Yahaya, Isaac Success, Chidera Eze, Dele Alampasu and other key players are all with some foreign clubs after their successful outing at the FIFA under 17 World Cup last year under the tutelage of coach Manu Garba.
