Adamawa Governorship Election Holds on October 11

The Adamawa State governorship by- election to elect a replacement for Murtala Nyako who was impeached last month will be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on October 11.
NIGERIAN INTEREST learnt last night that the commission took the decision yesterday after a meeting by the Election Management Board (EMB).
The state House of Assembly had last month impeached the state governor, Nyako and the Speaker was sworn in as the acting governor while INEC was directed to conduct a by-election to fill the vacant seat within three months
Both the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kashim Gaidam and the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the INEC chairman, Mr Kayode Idowu, confirmed the new date to journalists.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said the October 11 governorship election was to complete the remaining part of Nyako tenure of office.
