NOUN matriculates 400 students in Calabar study centre

BY ABU IDRISU:

The Calabar Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria on Saturday matriculated 400 new students into various faculties of the institution.
Declaring the 12th matriculation ceremony open, Director of NOUN, Calabar Study Centre, Dr. Andee Iheme, advised the students to set their priorities right and shun all forms of bad association capable of truncating their future.
He said. “Let me specially welcome you into the NOUN family, a family known for its strides in academic excellence and good performances. Therefore, we expect nothing below the NOUN standard from you.’’
According to him, NOUN is an accessible and affordable university, with relevant entry qualifications of five credits including the English Language and Mathematics.
He explained that the duration of courses in NOUN is dependent on the student’s choice of programme and level of study.
“All undergraduate programmes in the School of Arts and Social Sciences Education and management run for a minimum of four years and a maximum of eight years. The LLB-Law in the School of Law and B.Sc Nursing Science and Resource Management in the School of Science Technology have five years minimum and eight years maximum,” he said.
The Director said that students of the university were rated very high in academic performance, adding that in 2012 NOUN came first in the Law student moot court competition organised nationwide.
He said that NOUN facilitators were drawn from conventional universities in their various disciplines.
He used the occasion to call on other prospective students to take the advantage and enrol in the university
