Aregbesola will win by landslide –Pedro

BY ABU IDRISU:

A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Femi Pedro, has predicted that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the Osun State governorship election, Mr. Rauf Argbesola, will win the August 9 election by a landslide.
The PDP had said the victory of Ayo Fayose in the Ekiti State governorship election signalled the end of the dominance of the APC in the South-West, adding that it would also win the Osun State governorship election on August 9.
However, Pedro said during an interview with journalists in Lagos on Sunday that in a free and fair election, Argbesola would defeat all his opponents by a wide margin.
While lamenting the manner with which the PDP had been going about its recent campaign in the South-West zone, the APC leader warned against rigging the Osun election, stressing that the militarisation of polls was not only contradictory to the ideals of democracy, but also a strategy that Nigerians would resist at all costs.
He said, “I know Governor Aregbesola very well. The PDP themselves know that he is fully on the ground because he is one of the few politicians that started grassroots campaigning from his first day in office. Through his performance, rapport with the people and his ability to successfully domesticate governance in Osun, this matter is really a foregone conclusion. He is going to win the August 9 poll by a landslide.
“The APC is the only party that feels the pulse of the common man, and I believe the people of Osun will vote their conscience by ushering Aregbesola towards a richly-deserved second term.”
On whether the fortunes of the party appears to be dwindling of late, Pedro said the party is rather expanding and getting ready to form the government at the centre come 2015, adding that those perceived to be aggrieved in the party would be reconciled.
