Seplat Petroleum Donates Funds for Eradication of Ebola

Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Seplat, has joined other well-meaning Nigerian corporates in donating to the cause of eradication of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Head of Corporate Communications at Seplat, Mr. Emmanuel Otokhine said in a statement at the weekend that the company had donated N30 million to First Consultants Medical Centre, Lagos and N20 million to the Lagos Isolation Centre.

"SEPLAT recognises the great sacrifices that this unfortunate outbreak has brought upon First Consultants Medical Centre - Lagos, the hospital where the EVD was first handled in Nigeria. Due largely to the professionalism they displayed in handling this difficult case, the nation has managed to keep the spread of the disease reasonably under control, howbeit, at great cost in human and material assets to the hospital," he said.

According to him, the company also appreciates the prompt setting up of the Lagos Isolation Centre and the pivotal role it has played in curtailing the spread of the disease.

Seplat, the operator of the NPDC/ Seplat Joint Venture, is a publicly quoted Nigerian Exploration and Production independent company.

The company was listed simultaneously in Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges in April 2014.
