Adamawa Acting Governor Wins PDP Governorship Primaries

The Acting Governor of Adamawa State , Alhaji Umaru Fintiri,  has been declared   winner of the   Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governorship primaries  held on Saturday in the state.


The declaration was made by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the PDP, Hon. Dimeji Bankole,  at the Lamido Cinema in Yola  where the election took place.


Bankole declared that out of the  total  number of 912 votes cast,  the Acting Governor,  Alhaji Umaru Fintiri scored 624 votes, followed by Dr Ahmed Modibbo who also scored 197 votes.
General Buba Marwa came third  with  a total of 54 votes , followed by Dr Umar Ardo with 9 votes and Jerry Kundisi 4 votes and 23 invalid votes.


At the last minute when the election was about to begin, Barrister Ahmed Gulak , the former adviser  to  President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Matters withdrew from  the race to support the acting governor.
The  Chairman  of the Committee commended the conduct of the election,  saying it was peaceful and hitch free.
He declared that with the result,  Fintiri  has emerged the flag-bearer of the PDP in the forthcoming Adamawa governorship by-election slated for October 11th ,2014.
