FG summons Egypt over maltreatment of Nigerian student
Federal Government on Thursday summoned the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Ashrat Salama, over maltreatment of 17-year-old Joshua Kunle Abdul-Azeez , a Nigerian Medical Student studying in Ukraine.
It was gathered that Abdul-Azeez was maltreated for four days, between August 18 and August 21, 2014, by the staff and management of Egypt Air.
Minister of State 1 for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, described the maltreatment unacceptable.
“We cannot continue like this, Mr. President demands that the lives of Nigerians should be protected abroad. We demand explanation from your country,” he told Ambassador Salama.
In his response, Ambassador Salama promised full investigation into incident to unravel the mystery.
Onwuliri, who however accepted the envoy’s quest for investigation on the matter, insisted that Nigeria demanded for an apology from the Egyptian Government.
