Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Stealing Two Children
A 26-year old man has been arrested by the police in Delta State for allegedly stealing two infants at a community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspect, identified as Onuwa Okafor, was alleged to have lured away a boy, Chinoso Osakwe aged four and a little girl, Chinaza Nwakanma aged three years.
According to the state police spokeswoman, Mrs Celestina Kalu (DSP), the incident occurred last Thursday morning at Atuma-Iga in Oshimili North, near the state capital of Asaba.
The two victims were, however, rescued when suspicious community members confronted the suspect and he could not give satisfactory answer when asked about the two Children with him.
Kalu noted that the suspect had actually been beaten into a pulp when a patrol team of policemen from Issele-Uku arrived the scene, rescuing the suspect from the angry mob.
The suspect was eventually taken to the General Hospital Issele-Uku for treatment while the children were also kept in “protective custody” pending the time their parents would come for them.
