Delta Govt Pledges Commitment To Workers Training

The  Special Adviser on Labour and SERVICOM to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta , Mr Mike Okem,  on Wednesday restated the state government’s resolve to ensure adequate training and retaining of its workers.
Okeme spoke when he received the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr David Ofoeyeno, and members of the union in his office in Asaba.
He said that the training and retraining of the state workers was one of the priorities of the government.
Okeme assured the team that Okowa was a listening governor and every issue concerning workers would be promptly presented for his attention.
“Your approach to issues by adopting dialogue remains the best option to get what you want from government.
“I want to assure you that the government will continue to partner with labour.
“It will look into all issues concerning workers, address issues of salaries, transportation and training in order to increase their productivity,” Okeme said.
According to him, government car and housing loans are still available for the workers to access.
He thanked Labour for supporting Okowa during the elections and urged them to continue to support his administration to succeed.
Earlier, Ofoeyeno said that the visit was to congratulate Okeme on his re-appointment.
He appealed to the government to ensure prompt payment of workers’ salaries and remittance of all other entitlements as and when due.
