Kano To Generate N10bn Monthly Through Single Treasury Account

A renowned Professor of Accounting and finance commissioner in Kano State, Prof Kabiru Isah Dandago, has said that the state government will generate N10billion revenue monthly through blocking leakages and use of single treasury account.
Fielding questions from journalists shortly after the dinner organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Kano-Jigawa State branch, Prof. Dandago stated that the state government is currently in a reform process to enhance the revenue base of the state for self-reliance.
He said, “The present Kano government was first to introduce single treasury account in July, 2015, before the federal government. Single treasury account by the government of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is a deliberate policy to block revenue leakages and jack up revenue generation from N1.5billion in the recent past to N5billion or N10 billion”.
The commissioner disclosed that all the revenue sources of the state are now remitted into one account, saying that they no longer ask of how or where to deposit government money.
Dandago maintained that the sources of revenue to Lagos State government are similar to those of Kano government, but Lagos generated N20.5billion while Kano generated only N1.5 billion.
“Why we are not generating as Lagos generated is that the money goes to different baskets, such that we ended up with peanuts”, he said.
He stated that under the present government, they will close the gap with what Lagos government generated and jack up their revenue to close to N10billion.
