Buhari To Open Diaspora Day Conference
President Muhammadu Buhari to declare open the 2015 Diaspora Day/
Conference on August 25th, 2015.
The Diaspora Day was established by the Federal Government, under
former President Olusegun Obasanjo, to create an official platform for
Nigerian experts and professionals in the diaspora to, on a yearly
basis, interact with their home-based counterparts.
The Permanent Secretary (Political Affairs), Office of the Secretary
to the Government of the Federation, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote,? told
newsmen this during press briefing on preparations for the event.
The Conference, slated to hold at the old Banquet Hall of the
Presidential Villa, Abuja, will examine three key areas – health,
education and youth and sports.
Odusote said the Conference is geared towards supporting and enhancing
the change agenda of the Federal Government in formulating and
implementing policies.
According to her, the conference will feature a participant, a young
Nigerian student with an incredible accomplishment, Ufot Ekong, who
recently solved an unsolved Mathematics equation of 30 years.
Experts, Odusote said, will also speak on different areas while three
panel sessions will dwell on sustainable healthcare delivery in
Nigeria, sustainable development through youth empowerment and
enhancing education in Nigeria.
On Monday 24th of August, according to her, a roundtable discussion
programme will hold and focus on investment opportunities available
for Nigerians in the diaspora towards Nigeria’s inclusive national
development.
