Masari Begins Probe Of LGs, SUBEB Finances

Katsina state governor, Aminu Bello Masari has inaugurated a special committee to review and investigate finances of the 34 local govermment councils in the state and, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Inaugurating the committee, Masari charged the committee which is under the chairmanship of Ibrahim Dabo, to review and investigate finances of the two government bodies from January 2013 to May 2015.

The governor listed other terms of reference for the committee to include total review of operations of local government joint account in relation to existing laws.

He tasked the committee to under take verification of local government councils and local education authority (LEA) staffs, their salaries and, establish authenticity.

Masari however gave the committee the latitude to make any recommendation relevant to its term of reference that will improve efficiency in the management of council areas and the LEAs.

He said the new administration under his leadership would do all it can to put a benchmark to itself within which to operate and ensure effective financial regulations.

In a brief speech, the committe chairman, Ibrahim Dabo pledged to justify confidence reposed on it by doing a thorough job that would bring back lost glory of financial and administrative positions in the state.
