Cancelled PDP Kogi Congresses to Hold Next Tuesday
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward congresses in Kogi State earlier scheduled for July 14 have been scheduled for next week.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had on July 1, cancelled the delegates ward congresses held on June 27 in the state because “the participation of a ‘local organising committee’ which is unknown to the constitution of the party and the guidelines marred the congresses.”
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, told journalists yesterday that the NWC, after a meeting with Governor Idris Wada, the congresses will hold next week Tuesday and Wednesday.
Governor Idris Wada who, together with his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, visited the PDP National Secretariat a day after the cancellation, also held consultations with the party leadership on Tuesday.
Metuh said the date for the congresses was fixed after the meeting with the governor.
He promised that the national leadership of the party “promised that they will be fair to all members of the party in the state.”
The ward congresses will kick start the process of producing delegates for the party’s primaries which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed between August 25 and September 14, in Kogi State.
