Wada, Top PDP Leaders Storm Lokoja, Assures PDP Members of Victory at Tribunal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kogi State has assured members of the victory of the party at the election tribunal, stressing that it would soon be vindicated when the tribunal delivers its judgment.

Captain Idris Wada, immediate past governor of the state, gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the party’s secretariat in Lokoja.

The governor who lamented at the role some members who betrayed the party in the last governorship election, played, saying the mistakes have made the party and its members to face untoward political challenges.

He, however, admonished them to put the incidence behind them while they should forge unity in order to help each other at this period of hardship and political challenges.

The stakeholders’ meeting attracted party bigwigs, including Capt. Idris Wada, the former state governor; Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, representative of his predecessor, Dr. Patrick Adaba, a former deputy governor in the state; Senator Tunde Ogbeha and both serving and past federal and state lawmakers.

Engr. Sam Uhuotu, chairman of party in the state, said the PDP would surely return to the Lugard House after its current battle at the tribunal where its candidate is challenging incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello.

He attributed past mistakes of the party to what he described as human frailties, saying only God is infallible.

Wada said he was proud of the performance of the party in the state, asserting that though INEC said it failed at the last governorship election in the state, events at the tribunal has shown otherwise, he maintained.

He identified with PDP lawmakers in the state house of assembly, who according to him, had become victims of the present administration and admonished that they remain steadfast in the cause of what was just.

He added: “I want to thank elders and leaders of the party who have been with you in your struggle. Only God will reward you”.

He said Kogi PDP was passing through difficult path, but said it can ‘stand the heat’.

“What has happened in the last three months shows clearly that the state needs PDP. What has happened is an accident, and we shall overcome,” he stated.
