Senate Holds Valedictory Service For Chukwumerije Next Wk
The senate will on Wednesday next, hold a special valedictory service for its late Chairman of its committee on Education, Senator Uche Chukwumerije, who died on April 19, this year.
The eldest son of the deceased, Chidi, announced this on Monday while briefing journalists on the activities lined up for the late senator’s burial.
He said the valedictory service which would take place at the senate chamber, would be followed later by a night of tributes at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton hotels in Abuja by 6:00pm.
Chidi, flanked by members of the burial committee, headed by Senator Ben Obi, added that his father’s body would leave Abuja airport at 7:00am on Thursday, May 21, after a brief ceremony, for the Enugu airport, where another brief ceremony would be held, upon arrival at the coal city.
He said the body would move straight from the airport for his home town, Isuochi, where the lying-state would take place around 2:00pm while the service of songs would follow at 8:00pm.
Chidi added that the funeral service would be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 22 while the interment would follow immediately in his compound.
