Jonathan Urges Nigerians To Re-elect Him To Salvage Nigeria From Retrogression
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday maintained that it is expedient for Nigerians to vote for him and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming March 28th, general election, to salvage Nigeria from retrogression.
He said the PDP led administration had made solid foundation for the transformation of the country which makes necessary for a second term to consolidate the reforms.
President Jonathan said these while answering questions during the 2015 Presidential Debate organised by the Nigeria Elections Debate Group (NEDG), held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

“In first place, I believe that Nigerians should vote for me and I want them to vote for me because of the progress we have made over these past four years in government.
“And we believe that in the next four years, we will consolidate in these areas. From the social sector, economic sector and purely infrastructural issues even the things that are sometimes not very very tangible, we have progressed significantly and we need to sustain it.”
“And because we have ?done quite well in these areas, that is why we believe that if we must not move backwards as a nation, if we must move forward as a nation, then you allow us to continue.”
On tackling corruption, he cited that in the early 70s when armed robbers were being executed, it did not prevent people from engaging in armed robbery.
However, he said what was important is the prevention of corrupt practices and strengthening of institutions.

T. Y. Danjuma, Presidential initiatives which involves combined efforts of Public Private Partnership.
He explained that the Federal Government ?is currently succeeding in the fight against Boko Haram because it has acquired hi-tech equipment such as drones.
On how to make the Petroleum sector effective, President Jonathan gave indication that the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) would be unbundled because it is too big to the extent of inefficiency cropping in.
?He maintained that with or without Petroleum Industry Bill being passed into law, the institutions of the sector would be strengthened to so that Nigeria will be able to refine and export refined petroleum products.
The president, who also gave assurances of taking the education and agriculture sectors to the next levels from what it has achieved, said only another four years to the PDP led Federal Government would prevent Nigeria from going backwards.
