BY ABU IDRISU
Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark on Thursday warned that there should be no room for complacency in the forthcoming general elections; stressing that only person with democratical credential will be the president come May 28th.
Clark is a close associate of President Goodluck Jonathan who is also the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the coming presidential election.
Chief Clark who spoke in Abuja while playing host to the Yoruba Youth Council (YYC) who paid him a solidarity visit also noted that what should be paramount to the youths in the country should be a united and peaceful country where there is equality devoid of bitterness.
The one time National Commissioner also warned that money is not every thing; stressing that “those things that money can buy are perishable, and you will not see them sometimes because when you are dead, you are dead. But those things that money cannot buy are there. Your character, integrity, your name nobody can buy it”.
He also encouraged the youths to travel across the length and breath of the country to meet with other youths as a way of building national unity.
Earlier, the President of YYC, Abiodun Oyewole stated that the council is fully committed to the return of Jonathan to Aso rock come May 29.
“The YYC? has endorsed Jonathan to return as President. We want continuity. We will not allow a 72 year old man to determine our lives for us.
“There is no alternative among other contestants that is as genuine as Jonathan. His achievement in Yoruba land is tremendous. Everyone can see the good work of Jonathan.
“The achievements of President Jonathan in Yoruba land has far out-shown that of any government in Nigeria since 1999 no matter the commitments of certain quarters to demystify these giant strides”, the group stated.
While commending the youth organization, Clark noted that it was the first time in the nation’s political history that a large youth organization such as YYC will identify with the government of the day, especially with someone who is from the minority.
“Nigeria belong to all of us, no tribe has the monopoly of ruling us. Nobody is a second class citizen. We all are first class citizen of this country
