Unpaid Salaries:FG’s Bailout To Benue Not Diverted – Gov Ortom
Benue State governor Samuel Ortom has said that the bailout funds to the state by the federal government was not diverted, stating that the state government has completed all the financial processes for the money to be released.
There are widespread speculations in the state that the governor had diverted the money and that the state government had also completed an arrangement to use part of the money to settle political stakeholders.
But Ortom while fielding questions from journalists at the Peoples House, Makurdi, yesterday, described the allegations as unfounded and unsubstantiated. He said that the rumor emanated from mischief makers who want to distract his administration.
He said, “The truth is that the information is emanating from some mischief makers who want to unnecessarily distract the government but we cannot be deterred. Out of the bailout, the sum of N12.5billion is for payment of state workers while N15.5billion is salary arrears for local government and primary school teachers.”
