Postponement Of PMB’s Visit To C/River Not Political – Ayade
Cross River State governor Ben Ayade yesterday clarified that the postponement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state for the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of a 260km superhighway had no political undertone.
According to him, the shifting of the president’s visit to the state was neither for political reasons nor for issues of funding as being speculated in the media.
Ayade, who made the clarification while addressing journalists after meeting with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, described President Buhari as a very humble president whose level of integrity and morality would not allow him to get involved in a groundbreaking ceremony for a questionable project.
He also hinted that based on his discussion with the president, a new date would soon be fixed and communicated to them for the groundbreaking ceremony of the road project.
The governor said, “Basically, that is one of the reasons why I’m here. There were wrong speculations in the press linking the shift in the visit to politics, linking the shift to so many other considerations than was real.
“It was basically a technical issue that needed to be resolved and it has been resolved and I am happy to announce that with the discussion with Mr. President this morning, it is obvious that very soon, a new date will be communicated”.
