Abatemi-Usman Hails Buhari’s Ministerial List
A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has hailed the list of ministerial nominees sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
Speaking through his media assistant, Michael Jegede, in a statement issued in Abuja, Abatemi-Usman said the ministerial list contains names of eminent Nigerians, who have proven track records of achievements in the various positions they have held previously.
Hear him: “I think the first batch of the ministerial list as sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Senate for screening and confirmation is okay. I am personally satisfied with the names on the list because I see them all as people who have the capacity to deliver based on their performances in the previous positions they occupied. They are distinguished Nigerians of sound character and unflinching courage with vast experience in the way government is being run. They are people who possess some rare qualities needed at this austere time of our struggle as a nation; qualities needed in individuals and a group of people that will help marshal our nation out of the woods. I am confident that they will not disappoint Nigerians. In fact, they will have no option other than to perform because they are going to work with a no-nonsense man who has so far shown the whole world that he has truly come to effect change in the system for the good of our dear country.”
On the whether the delay for about four months before the release of the ministerial list was worth it, the former Kogi APC governorship aspirant said: “Well, he (President Muhammadu Buhari) needed to take his time. There is really nothing wrong with taking time to study a new system before constituting your cabinet. That should not be an issue at all. What should bother us is whether those in the list deserve the ministerial position; whether they have what it takes to work with Buhari to repair Nigeria for the betterment of the people. That is what is important to me.”
While wishing the ministerial nominees success in the screening, Senator Abatemi-Usman, implored his former colleagues in the 8th Senate to ensure a hitch-free exercise. He stressed the need for harmonious relationship, mutual understanding and cooperation between the National Assembly and the Executive. This, according to him, will pave way for the smooth running of governmental affairs.
