House of Representatives Condemns Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa
The house of Representatives has condemned in very strong terms the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa which has led to several deaths with many severely injured, with businesses and properties belonging to Nigerians destroyed.
In a debate by lawmakers on Representative Abike Dabiri Erewa’s motion an urgent National importance the House calls for immediate recall of the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa pending further directives from the Nigerian government. The Lawmakers urged the federal government to commence process towards convening a meeting of African Union Member countries, with the unwarranted and repeated attacks, torture and harassment of Nigerians of Nigerians in South Africa as the major agenda.
