Bello pledges to make Abuja business friendly

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would work towards making the Capital City a business friendly environment that can create more job opportunities for the residents.

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello asserted this yesterday, while receiving a delegation of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by its President, Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye, on a courtesy visit to the Minister, in Garki, Abuja.

Bello noted that the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a member of the Organized Private Sector (OPS), which is key to this government to generate massive employment for the citizenry.

According to him, “your role cannot be overemphasized; that is why this government encourages you to generate employment for the teeming populace.

“The FCT needs commercial activities because Abuja has the ready market which is a veritable asset.”

Bello however advised the Chamber to embark on a more aggressive membership drive to bring to its fold traders’ groups in the markets and motor parks.

He reiterated that the coming in of the Chamber into the markets and motor parks would go along way to reduce the dirty environment often noticed in such areas considering the Chamber’s antecedents.

The Minister announced that his Administration would soon organize the Abuja Economic Summit, and enjoined the Chamber to key in and participate actively.

Speaking earlier, the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said the Chamber is the voice of the organized private sector.

The President noted that the Chamber is ready to forge partnership with the FCT Administration in order to take Abuja to the next level of development.

The FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, the Group Managing Director of the Abuja Investment Company Limited, Dr. Musa Ahmed Musa and other officials of the FCT Administration joined the Minister to receive the visiting officials of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
