Osinbajo Tasks African Petroleum Producers To Reduce Poverty, Create Wealth
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has challenged the African Petroleum
Producers’ Association (APPA) to intensify efforts to end the energy
crisis in the continent with a view to reduce poverty and create
wealth among Africans.
Prof Osinbajo gave the charge while receiving members of the
Association at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He described the dwindling oil prices globally as worrisome and
suggested a holistic approach in tackling it.
In an interview with State House Correspondents after the closed door
meeting, the Executive Secretary APPA, Mahamman Gaya said the
association was working towards achieving efficiency and renewable
energy for Africa.
Mr Mahamman Gaya said African countries must diversify revenue source
for the overall development of the continent.
The Permanent Secretary Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum, Mr. Taiye
Haruna also told State House Correspondents that APPA was organizing a
Conference to be held in March next year to prepare a common view that
would be presented at the global petroleum organization OPEC.

organization established in 1987, as a platform for co-operation,
collaboration, knowledge and competence sharing among African Oil
Producing countries.
