Nupe Foundation Plans N2bn ICT Centres, To Honour IGP, Others
The Nupe Foundation is set to launch a N2 billion appeal fund for the establishment of 12 Information Communication Technology (ICT) Centres in 12 local government areas in Niger State.
The Foundation has also concluded plans for a civic reception to honour the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Mohammadu and all other sons and daughters of Kinnupe in Niger, Kwara and Kogi states, who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.
The civic reception slated for 16th and 17th December, 2016, is part of activities to mark the 13th coronation anniversary of Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, as the 13th Etsu Nupe of Niger State.
The national coordinator, Nupe Foundation, Engr. Y.Y. Sani, made this known in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, yesterday.
Engr. Sani, who doubles holds the traditional title, Jakada Nupe, said the Foundation intends to, during the occasion, raise funds for a number of projects that have been proposed for the benefit of the Nupe people and Nigeria at large including the ICT centres.
He further disclosed that books written by several notable authors of Nupe ethnicity would be launched on the occasion.
“Etsu Nupe Alhaji Abubakar will bestow traditional titles on some discerning Nigerians including the former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole.
“All other sons and daughters of Kinnupe in Niger, Kwara and Kogi State who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, who were recently promoted, appointed, elected to the position of prominence at both state and national levels.
“All sons and daughters of Kinnupe that have been awarded Kinnupe Merit Award during the celebration of the 2016 8th Nupe day festival,’’ Sani said.
Dignitaries expected to grace the event include the Chairman, LEADERSHIP Group Ltd, Sam Nda-Isaiah (Kakaki Nupe); Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Niger State governor, Abubakar Sani Bello; Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello; Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed; Col. Sani Bello; Attah of Igala, Agabaidu Idakwo Ameh Oboni II, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and all sons and daughter of Kinnupe and their friends.
